Red-legged Golden Orb Web Spider

Photo Information

Taken on the island of Pemba, near Zanzibar. The golden silk from these spiders was used by weavers in Madagascar to produce a beautiful tapestry. It took them four years to produce, is the only one in existence and required the silk from over 1 million spiders!
