Totnes Gold
The surviving stone keep and curtain wall (constructed of Devonian limestone and red sandstone) date from around the 14th century.
The first castle on this site is believed to have been built by the Breton Juhel of Totnes - one of William the Conqueror's lieutenants.
An absolute joy to see it bathed in golden-hour light - as it raked through a large gap in the curtain wall of the castle complex.
