O Brook falls

"We love the things we love for what they are."

(Robert Frost)

The O Brook is a short and charming tributary of the West Dart River on Dartmoor in Devon, England.

It is seen here as it drops into a long, but not too deep, slot-canyon in the granite bedrock. The grazing evening sidelight occurred as the cloud began to pass.

An earlier form of the name was Ocbroke, which apparently meant "Oak Brook", though oaks are now rare in the area.

Perfectly chosen shutter speed. The diagonal across the frame works great.

Sometimes I'm serious and sometimes not, but I consider sarcasm an artform. Which is it today?

Thank you very much Tim I walked along a mile and a half of this river and found many other ideas for images, but ones to return to in lower angled light. I look forward to returning there soon

Thank you very much Steve I find 1/6th second for big and fast flow works, with up to around a quarter to 0.7 seconds for slower flows - depends on the angle of view too. Used a polarizer and a 2stop ND Grad to balance the brightly lit bits of rock with the shadows. There was +1.5ev exposure compensation added too, using the Zone System approach to keep detail in the whites.
