Milky Way, Simien Mountains, Ethiopa

by mcrtchly

In April 2017 we undertook an 8 day trek through the Simien Mountains of northern Ethiopa. The terrain varied from arid uplands of the mountains where we climbed to over 4,400m elevation to the farming villages of the lowlands. On most nights we had spectacular views of starts and the Astrotracer function on a Pentax K1 full frame camera turned out quite well. This was a single 3 minute exposure using a vintage Pentax 20mm F2.8 manual lens at ISO 3,200 with astrotracer on, merged with a 3 min exposure for foreground with asrotracer off. Some coma at the edges due to the lens.

So very true.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
