When I saw the thumb nail I though "that looks familiar".

Thanks guys for your comments. In answer to questions, plus a bit extra:-

I like the 16-85mm for the convenient focal range, but it doesn't feel that much different in image quality to the 18-135mm. The DA* 50-135mm is still my favourite, as long as you have occasion to need that range and don't mind the conspicuous bulk.

I've edited the photo info to show this is a single shot. The cathedral is well lit at night (in a dim kind of way), so didn't need extra shots for the shadows.

Believe it or not, this is actually a tinted monochrome image which I've sort of duotoned in the shadows. It was probably a moment of madness as I'm not sure it improves on the unadulterated monochrome.
