Two Spoonbills Enjoying a Joke
by AggieDad
They move their spatulate bill through the water straining out small food items. Although their bald heads and strange bills do not make for a handsome bird, you will be hard pressed to see more beautiful pink coloring. When in flight both the neck and the legs are extended and they are a magnificent sight.
These two were at a rookery during breeding season. They are about 30 inches (760 mm) long with a wingspan of some 50 inches (1270 mm).
Used a K5-IIs with Pentax 55-300mm zoom.
