Marconiphone radio

Another of the technological history pieces at Nuffield Place. This one is an old Marconiphone radio from the late 1950's.

I'm not sure what plastic the casing is made from but since you can see some of the creamy/white paint peeling off it may have been bakelite ?

Marconiphone, along with HMV, Ultra and Ferguson were all part of the British Radio Corporation group, mainly run by Ferguson and the main factories were on The Great Cambridge Road near Enfield Middlesex. Sadly, like so many once great British manufacturing sites this is now a huge 'Retail Park' !
