Beautiful, talk about being in the right place at the right time! Was it planning, luck, both??

Nice recession and great light rays (shadow rays?) in the foreground.

A bit of both; I had looked out weather forecast beforehand and there was a possibility of mist in some areas along this part of the country. I set a very early alarm and was half-way up this hill by 5:45am and was rewarded with this view!

Thank you all for your appreciation.

the tonal qualities and interplay of mist and shadow are most pleasing to the eye

Hi Stuart

Thanks for your comment - yes 5:45am does mean losing a bit of beauty sleep!

As to 170mm; Tamron 70-200mm
