I prefer the colour version Simon, but both are top notch.

I must agree with above peoples, but IMHO it could be possible to manage colour version in a better way so to get a better mono result. Sorry for my comment but I suppose that you've converted using "scale of grey command" only

Giulio, I simply opened the shot in PS Elements 10 and pressed Ctrl + Alt + B...

I'm sure there are more sophisticated techniques.

For what it's worth, I prefer the colour original, too.

Brilliant Simon, thank you for the B/W. As you rightly pointed out, this simple B/W rendition doesn't seem to IMHO doing justice to the original picture. I am sure with your skills that you have successfully demonstrated in "lip service" and other pictures you can make this one much better. For me B/W has the power of conveying emotion more powerfully when the distraction of colour is taken off. Thanks again.

Generally I prefer the B/W versions but in this case I like better the colour version.
