Romeo and Juliet

Photo Information
ďThere was the moon that night in Old MexicoĒ. Sorry, Iím wrong. Iím not talking about Speedy Gonzales.
There was the light of a street-lamp, only. My wife and I were walking along Garda Lake, in the village of Cassone when this scenery appeared to my eyes. Difficult to resist to this romantic blend of low lights, warm tones, the sound of waves against stones of lakeside, darkness, silence of the sky, a magic atmosphere, Romeo and Juliet. Donít forget that Cassone lies in the area of Verona: the land of the most famous lovers through times . I had tripod and K20D with me. (Pentax Lens 55-300 on 55mm: F6,3; 1,6 s; ISO 400; White Balance on AWB). I performed five captures with different speed-times at the same F-number. I choosed this one. I wanted to match these pics using HDR, but it wasnít possible for movements of the two young (I got a bad result using HDR Photomatix 4 and deghosting device). I would like to tell you the name of the two actors ignorant of my presence. Do you believe that it will be possible to know their names and to give them this pic? Perhaps one day in the future; perhaps after their marriage so they will show it to their children and nephews. Who can say it? Iím becoming old and when I look at my pictures I trust that ďWe take photos of time-changing. We take photos of the past-present changing into future. We take photos of LIVING that will change to DEADĒ. Sorry for these sad thoughts, but Iím sure there is only one way to survive to this process: to live in a photo captured when we were living. Is this the main reason why do I like photography? I donít know. Perhaps I need a psychiater! Or not: this photo is the story of Love and Death, two words that go together well since Greek Philosophers. Eros and Tanatos: the Tragedy of Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, shows the struggle between Love and Death. How many words for a photo!

Giulio, your pictures are rarely posted and never disappoint when they are! I love the composition and the light and also the whole romance of the scene. Your words are also very deep and moving and it is nice to read something that gives an insight into what the picture means to YOU. People put their own interpretations on the meaning of pictures and this is fine, but the only true meaning can be what the artist intended. A photographer is no less an artist than one who draws or paints.

A very well executed picture Giulio, well composed and excuted.

And as for the text and the feeling behind it, wonderful.
