Andrew, your photo brings back memories of several visits to Cwmorthin that I made years ago.
I must go there again, a magical place. Is it still accesible?
You have captured the atmosphere and the dereliction of this place really well.
Friendly Regards

The box or cupboard adds mystery and a dimension to the inherent story of the place, and that is what I like most about this detailed and textured shot, Andrew.

An air of desolation and a little mystery, what, why? added in the foreground by the box, quality image.

Thanks everybody. Horrid conditions up there last Sunday: very dark and dingy.
Graham: it's still very accessible but the buildings are deteriorating. Get there while you can. Apparently you can get underground!
Nezih, the "box" is part of a truck, mounted on a chassis and wheels, used to transport the slate down the mountain to Portmadog.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Silly me, I should have guessed. Can you get there or a nearby spot by car, Andrew?

Couldn't be anything but black & white could it? Excellent!

Wonderful image i like the b/w that gives it this air of desolation and yet quite moving.
Kind regards Maria
