On the line

Photo Information
A close-run finish. The lad in the green shirt won on the line. This was my first attempt at using the K7 as a sports camera. I still have a lot to learn here, my usual subjects are static. I have recorded this event for many years using an SFX and MZ cameras originally and an *1STDL2 more recently. The results this year were a great improvement. The autofocus was effortless and the camera survived the rain showers very well! I would like to experiment with shutter priority, this picture was using program mode and all settings were automatic. I used a battery grip for added power which was probably a good job because I took over 800 pictures, on continuous shooting mostly and panning a lot of shots to blur the background. There were several other photographers using various Canons but the K7 came out very well against their results.

I'd have gone for an even lower shutter speed as I like the blurred speed effect. However, you had to take what 'program' offered you.

Thanks for that thought, Paul. I enjoyed recording this event but the possibilities to experiment more were restricted by my concern that I still would have a clear picture 'for the record'.Things happen fast and you can't go back and take it again, still that makes it interesting.
I wonder how slow a shutter speed it would take to freeze some action but blur the background more?
