Being so tenuous, it must be supposed they they got nothing much out of their expedition because they could heft no mass, but only emit enough reflected radiation for this imprint.
They became invisible only when I cancelled my own light field.
Pretty feeble technology for any serious invasion, and which permits one to suppose there is still hope for Earth.
I got this picture of them with, indeed, my best lens: the 18-270.

It appears to be dropping quite rapidly from the vapour trail off the left side of it.
I can only conclude that they saw you and were trying to make a dash to hide behind the building?
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I had the building and Faraday cage disguised as a crane especially erected for such eventualities. Needless expense and loss of landscape because, as it turned out, a simple Eartlhlng light-bulb disactivated at the right moment put an end to their insidious plans.
