The Dinosaur Tree

by davidstorm

Another shot taken in the Lake District today, this one with the K-3 and 12-24 lens.

The old tree reminded me of a dinosaur and provided some nice foreground interest.

In a bizarre coincidence, I had parked up in a small National Trust parking pull-in, just one car there when I arrived. I went down to the water's edge, took a couple of shots and noticed another car pull in. A man got out with a camera and tripod and proceeded towards me. As he got closer, I could see it was Larry Sovitch (Bobbinalorry)! I didn't even know he was in the Lakes and for us to pull into the same parking spot at Buttermere, at the same time, must be millions to one against. Nice to see you Larry!

BTW, sorry about the EXIF data missing on the shots I am uploading, this is a mystery to me, but must be something to do with my old laptop which I am having to use temporarily as my main one has bust and I'm waiting for a replacement. For some reason it is removing the EXIF, despite my workflow being the same as always. Not sure why. I've put back in on this one the main details.

The Loch Ness Monster has moved habitats

I like the way you have made the tree sharp (as a knife) to make it stand out (almost 3D !)

Nice to meet up with Larry - I expect you had a good 'chinwag' ?

Best regards

Hi Peter, thanks for the comment again, yes we did have a good chat! I was amazed to see Larry, the chances of bumping into him at that spot were next to nil, especially as I haven't been to the Lakes for 2 years and didn't know Larry was up here. Larry won't be posting any shots on the Pentax site though as he now uses a Nikon

This is great despite the 'greyness' factor - and wow in respect of meeting Larry!

A lovely soft landscape, David.
Best wishes,

Thanks for the comments everyone, but I'm not happy with this one. The colours are wrong and I can't get them right on the old laptop screen I'm using. There's too much yellow in it, I'll have another go when I get a decent screen.
