Hi david, .. you've got excellent idea to catch this statuette with idealised shapes in this way, .. I mean putting stress not only on it but also on its shadows; .. it calls attention as it's shot with "real" model 
. Well lit and coloured. However I'de give smaller part to the candle.

Maria, there was some dim ambient lighting in the room, without this I think the shadows cast by the candle would have been too harsh. I did make an error though - I think I shot this with the wrong lens. My SMC Takumar 135 F3.5 would have produced a better result as it is sharper and has better out-of-focus effects than the 55-300mm.

I thought the christmas candle would add a seasonal feel to the shot - however I tend to agree having read your comment. Thanks very much for taking the trouble to add your thoughts.
