A Common Blue Damselfly Female. This is more of a record shot than anything else. It was taken while experimenting with the DA*300 and a Kenko 2x PZ-AF Teleconverter. The TC will not autofocus with the DA*300, the contacts are not right for the latest Pentax SDM. However, it's not too difficult to use it in MF mode, as I did here. Even with a 2x TC attached, the loss of IQ on the DA*300 is not very much.
Compared with the Pentax HD 1.4 TC though, the contrast and colours are much poorer and IQ not quite as good.

Hi Nuri, no the colours and contrast are far superior when the Pentax 1.4 HD TC is used. I took some shots in the same place with both of them, so there is a direct comparison. I have increased the contrast and saturation on this shot during post processing, so it looks better on here than it did originally.

Any half decent shot using a TC makes me envious David. I have owned just about every 'rated' one there is including 3 Pentax 1.7s - never managed to take a decent shot with any of them and gave up a year or two back.

Hi Carl, I think if you tried the new 1.4TC you would break your duck! Especially if you have a DA*300. It's the best TC I've ever used, by some distance. The one used here (Kenko 2x) needs a bit more effort to coax a decent shot, but it is fairly sharp.
