Morning Colours

Photo Information
During my recent holiday I dragged myself out of bed to get to the local beaches for first light a few times. Often the light was not great but the morning this was taken there were some lovely colours over the space of 1/2 an hour from yellows to pink and blues.

Praia da Marinha, a lovely beach.

Beautiful pastel palette and love the clean simplicity George but that horizon could do with a bit of left hand down on it

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

Glorious colours and a beautiful composition George, it was worth getting up early for this.

Carl is right about the horizon, it's only fractionally out, but it just a tad off.

What a lovely scene (I can't hold a camera straight. either George.)
Best wishes,

Andrew

Must go to Specsavers, hadn't noticed the wonky horizon - still not convinced it is wonky. Whatever, I like the picture and the matching overall colour scheme.

Glorious colours and worth the early rise, and love the rock textures. re the horizon - it really is only a tad, and part of it may be down to a bit of lens distortion (ie a light curvature of the horizon)

Love the colours and textures. Did you use a ND filter?

It's amazing how sensitive the human visual system can be to a wonky horizon - I reckon it's only out by about 1/10th of a degree. However, in this case I wonder if in part it's an illusion, due to the visual weight of the lump in the top right.

Thanks for all your comments, the horizon does appear to be out very slightly although, as mentioned above, I think the large rock on the right does make it appear further out than it is. When looking at it in lightroom with the crop grid overlay there is very little in it.

I used a Soft grad and ND filter on this to keep iso low, longer exposure and help with foreground detail.
