Wren & Grub

Photo Information
Wrens are nesting in our garden this Spring. To get this shot I spent a whole afternoon working out the best way to get close. I set the K-5 up on a tripod with a remote trigger and the DA L 55-330 lens. I chose the angle and the spot for two reasons; (1) to get the best chance of capturing the birds in a natural setting and (2) to get the lovely background colours and bokeh of the afternoon sun shining through the conifer branches. The lens was pre-focussed on a certain spot where I thought they would perch before flying to the nest box a few feet away. Then I waited for several hours and eventually got the shots I wanted.
