The Fence Line

by davidstorm

Another one shot on the ridge that leads up to the summit of Mam Tor in Derbyshire. This one is with the DA L 55-300mm lens, set at 55mm. I am finding out that this is a lens of many talents and is fantastic for tightly framed landscapes as at the 55m end it is really sharp.

For processing this shot I have de-saturated the colours and added a hint of cyan to cool it down a bit. Levels tweaked and a tiny amount of sharpening added, but that's all.

K-m, DA L 55-300mm.

This is one that definitely benefits the Large View.

There are 36 Mam Tor shots on the Gallery, David, and each depicting a different facet of the place and I find it fascinating. This one is gorgeous with the fences and the snow!

Wow Nezih - this is fascinating, I never even thought of searching for similar shots! I am going to have a look now!

Mam Tor is not one of the highest points in Derbyshire but it is fascinating for different reasons. 'Mam Tor' means 'The Shimmering Mountain' and it is so named because of the instability of the rocks which cause frequent landslips. A road was built around it in the 19th Century and after repeated attempts at repair it was abandoned in 1979. It is now fascinating to walk down this road which is bent and buckled into twisted contortions by the sliding land. I will go back on a suitable day and photograph it.

Best wishes
