Photo Information
Today's image is another door from a different region, namely the Aegean Coast. It was taken in Urla, a lovely rural town not far from my hometown Izmir. I remember this building and door from my childhood, it was intact and the door was in a much better shape in the fifties, but now all its history can be read from the torn zinc coating and the patched woodwork mending showing underneath. Today only the wall and the door facing the street remain. It was so sad to see the decay and decimation of such buildings, as they were the pride and glory of the town in the past. It will soon be pulled down and a new building without a character will rise in its place. Good news is that the municipality and people are restoring a number of those old buildings in the town, which is now made popular and has become a suburb of the metropolitan city of Izmir.
Thank you for seeing and thank you, folks, for the kind comments on my Open Door image.

LIKEd. Your pictures are telling us the History of your Country. Well done that you have been taking these records. Crazy not to restore...crazy to pull down. This is Holy "Modernism"

Fabulous, I love doors of this kind, especially ones that are maintained, here’s hoping it will be restored to its former glory
