Flying in the Fog

by GIULIO57

I took this image a few months ago. Date: Dec. 12 th, 2016. Morning with fog. PENTAX LX camera on monopod and PENTAX zoom 40-80 set at 60mm. F16. Shutter Speed: 1/500s. Manual exposure and focusing. KODAK BW Film T-MAX 400 processed using its own developer (T MAX standard protocol). I have printed photo on ILFORD Warm Tone paper (baryta). I have scanned original frame film (25A-26) using an EPSON Perfection 3200 scanner. Digital file so obtained has been processed in CS5 and then TOPAZ BW so to give same effect as original warm-tone paper. This is work flow: Open Topaz-Choose BW-Traditional Collection-Warm Tone III-at Color Sensitivity choose Blu Filter. So doing I have opened fog and middle tone (this has been the visual effect at monitor!).
Place is Castello Banfi close to Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. This scenery is a must to take a pic of when embedded in the fog. This has been my first time I have seen such a scenery with the Castle “Flying in the Fog”.

Nice work Giulio and thanks for all the info.

The early morning mists do have magical effects, which you have captured here.
I have seen similar effects in England when a valley has been hidden in the morning fog and the high ground on the far side is seen as if in the clouds.

Best regards
Peter

Impressed with your processing as well as the shot. Ilford makes a nice FB warm-tone paper too.

A yummy photograph taken by a yummy LX. Perfect combo.
