Test b(ee)

by PeterKR

Another early test shot with my newly acquired PK mount Chinon 1.7 50mm.
Again fully open at f/1.7 to be a severe test and looking at bokeh.

This was a truly difficult shot since the bee kept 'buzzing' from bloom to bloom so following it and re-focusing with a manual lens was a task of 'Olympic' proportions, obviously neccessitating a hand-held shot !
The narrow DoF is clear but so are the bees wings !
As this is a test shot I've posted the full image without cropping.

That's a very fine effort for a hand held shot Peter. And isn't there something very satisfying about using older glass!
I too own a Chinon 50mm 1.7 and a 1.9, they are very sharp and render the out of focus areas in a very pleasing way. We can get obsessed with the desire for modern lenses but it just goes to show that with patience and effort, using these older, more demanding manual lenses can be so very rewarding as well as easier on the wallet. Persevere and enjoy....
