The catch

Photo Information
Here the first catch of the chameleon shooting. I myself was almost a bit shocked, when I saw this image after making it. The normally so small and "sweet" reptile suddenly got a touch of Alien IV
Interesting to see his protected eyes. It seems to have a kind of "fire and forget" tongue - once the tongue is out it does not look at the prey anymore (I assume that this should protect the eyes from fast approaching parts - like legs - from the prey, when it is pulled back with high speed into the mouth)

Super shot Axel, we've been waiting for this. It's been worthy of waiting to get that shot of the amazing moment.

Hi Tim - the photo was taken with 100mm, ISO 200, F16, 1/125 sec and I used my Sigma ring flash (in this case mounted to the lens to get maximum light into the scenery - most of the other chameleon shots are taken with a freehand ring reflector - but the actual hunt shots were all taken with mounted reflector)
