Rule Britannia

Photo Information
Ex BR 4-6-2 No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' was the last steam loco to haul a train under the auspices of British Railways in 1968.

It is one of two remaining of the 'Britannia' class and is seen near Burton Joyce (East of Nottingham), on Saturday 12th March taking a charter train from London to Lincoln.

I prefer steam photos in Winter when the steam hangs in the air but I still enjoyed the sight (and sound) of this engine.

Good to see 70013 back on the mainline Peter. It was 'crocked' last year and spent months being repaired.
This is a good clear shot of it. One good thing about the light being overcast is you don't get burned out highlights on that shiney clean paintwork.

Thanks for your comment David and for not mentioning the washed out sky which I tried mainly to crop out.

Rescued by Photoshop, John.

I tried to adjust the shadows and highlights without going too far and looking like bad HDR.

I was in such a flap setting up my Fuji S5500 on a tripod to shoot video and with MZ6+28-90 and K10D+16-45 round my neck, that I forgot to set PEF instead of jpg and was on Av instead of M so my shot was about 1.5-2 stops under-exposed.

I never learn, still try to get 3 captures instead of 1 good one.
