A Little Bit Of Norway.

I was most puzzled to see this building alongside Cardiff Bay but it is easily explained. In the 19th century Cardiff was a busy port where Norwegian ships were regular visitors plying their trade bringing in Scandinavian wood for use as pit props in the Welsh mines and returning home with Welsh coal. During the course of a year up to 70,000 Norwegian mariners could visit the city and thus the founding of the church in 1868 provided more than just their religious requirements; it was a social centre too.
