Portrait of The Ice Lake

Shot earlier today in the Scottish Highlands. This stunning location is on the A82 between Fort William and Loch Lomond. Today we were treated to the most magical light that showed off this place in all its majesty. I only hope that I've done it justice.

Blimey. I am getting you two going ( not on purpose) Cull it above the bottom rock. i.e. take out the bottom rock..I'm not trying to wind you and puma up, it's just my opinion. SORRY.. Sorry I'm not allowed to use CAPS according to someone on this site.

I would say to you take a good long look at your own photos before you start making silly little comments like you are at the moment, as for what your saying ( I am getting you two going) never! As you also say you’re not doing it on purpose? Oh I think you are. But I really don’t care mate carry on Have your fun. 
And as for this Image it blows any of your shots right out the water I would say to you carring on Fishing.

I'm not trying to upset you or cause any arguments, but the comments you have been making have not made any sense to me. If you think you're not a good judge it might be better not to make such sweeping statements?

AS I view this one on my monitor I can't see the bottom bit of this picture unless I scroll down, and the first stone at the bottom then looks out of place. Did you two want C&C or just adulation?

Do a days work!I'm an HGV driver, fairly normal for me It got to be said I think that you have just tried to spoil some wonderful photos by making daft comments and then by trying to make it look like its Dave and Shaun, fault by saying there can’t take it? And find that very disrespectful and rude these two men are very good photographers and do not deserve this on the photographs? It’s very much green eye from where I am sitting and I think you could lose a lot of respect with people on here and with these fellas as they could help you in this field.
As a new comer myself to the site I feel that we have to very much consider every body’s opinion but it must be justified, not just off the wall then saying that they cant take CC
Ps I hate writing this on such a lovely photo so iam very sorry dave but I feel it had to be said.

A very beatiful scene, the foreground rock in ice looks great. I do think it could be brighter. I do see the point about the foreground grass, personally I would crop it too. But it's a very nice image indeed.

To my eye, this format does not work. I don't know whether you have tried too hard to get near-middle-far components into the view. The second rock is the more interesting piece of foreground detail, so I too would crop to remove anything nearer than that.

Thanks for your comment Peter, I think this one has divided opinion a bit, but I like the composition as it is. I took a number of shots here, some with the grass and some without. In this portrait format, the ones with it in look better to me and Í'm happy with it that way.

Unfortunately my views come from a standpoint of sheer jealousy! The whole lot are just simply stunning. I must learn how to do good landscapes because I love raw nature like this. I suppose Scotland does edge out Basildon but we have some lovely views of the Thames Estuary. I always like to put a bit of foreground in like this. But just not to sound too sycophantic the grass and heather is so pretty in its own right I might leave about a half or a third of it in because it draws the eye to it.

Just stumbled on this shot in the top 10 landscape shots. Absolutely beautiful shot. Love the stepping stones into the shot and the well controlled exposure.
