It's obviously a lot easier capturing raptors at a bespoke reserve (although red kites are common enough above motorway bridges on certain parts of the M40), but this one obligingly stuck its head into a pool of sunshine as I was passing. I was already shooting wide open, as the available light was a bit patchy, so I flicked to spot metering to make sure the eye and bill area were accurately exposed... and that conveniently underexposed any background clutter to the point of invisibility. I didn't do much PP: a quick crop in PS Elements 12, and 'auto colour correct' gave the head a little more pep, but that was it.
This weekend? Back to racing cars...
