Whenever you have a chance to be in stuttgart, try to visit the Porsche Museum - I am not really a carmaniac but this museum is outstanding. It is an outstanding, very modern and stylish architecture and they show some really great samples of technology. This is also one of the museums which greatly support photographers - you can come with monster equipment and no one asked you to lock away the camera. Also the visitors don't complain when you mount your tripod in front of a car to make a series of shots.
This here is the legendary 917 long tail in the famous Gulf painting. This car was dominating the racing world for a very long period.
If you look closer at the right lower corner you see the reflection of me and my kids sitting on the ground behind the tripod (I loved that my kids were also sitting down - made me look a bit less stupid to the other visitors )
