Sunny days

by davidtrout

As storms batter much of the British Isles its good to look back on sunnier times. I took this last April when this restored ex LMS class 8F freight loco worked a steam charter train from Lancashire through York to Scarborough. On the way back I caught it with the Great Yorkshire Wheel in the background at York station. This was during a long dry spell and the steam engine was replaced by a diesel at York because of the risk of sparks setting fire to dry grass on its haul back over the Pennines.

Looks like the same wheel that was positioned outside the railway museum back in 2007! Makes a good backdrop!
