Great texture,Andrew.I must find out more about filters for black and white images. Were you using an orange or red filter here? I used to use them with film but find I am having to learn it all again for digital.

I always shoot in colour, David, then convert in Photoshop. I used a yellow filter in days of film gone by, but now find photoshop with its numerous ways to convert to mono, the best way to go.
