Great Bustard

by morpheus71

Delightful to see a female Great Bustard at Stonehenge last week She was totally at ease with humans sharing her space and wandered to within a metre away from my daughter and I as we lay on the grass photographing her!

Delightful to know these once nationally extinct birds are doing well on their re-introduction to Salisbury Plain.

Nice to find some GOOD news for a change.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Many thanks David Yes it is great to see and hear of success with re-introducing once native species and the knock-on effects of increasing biodiversity, in various projects across the UK I long for the day that we see Red Squirrels return in big numbers to our woodlands thanks to the reintroduction of Pine Martins (as Red Squirrels are swift enough to co-exist with them). I hope to go and see and hopefully photograph the beavers and otters in East Devon at some point too!

A privilege to have them still with us. Your chosen POV shows this specimen to great effect. POTW territory.

As I discovered a couple of years ago it is very difficult to get a new angle on Stonehenge but this works perfectly!

Thanks very much Paul I spent the walk to the stones wondering whether I could have any chance of making a worthy photo of an iconic place in hazy Spring sunshine... I couldn't have been any luckier than when this opportunity happened!
