Grey Western

Ex GWR "38xx" class 2-8-0 is seen passing Rushey Lane, between Quorn & Rothley on the Great Central Railway, on Saturday 26th March.

The last few winter Great Central weekend galas seem to have coincided with fine sunny days (see my previous very smoky shot of Tornado), but last weekend was disappointing weather-wise.

With the inherent lack of colour and having enjoyed John Whit's shot of Princess Elizabeth, I thought I would present this in mono.

Tell us about disappointing weather Peter, the last two steam specials we have been to see have been a flop weather wise!. Hopefully the sun will shine on Saturday for 34067 with the 'CHESHIREMAN'.

Nice photo well captured.
Cliff.

Thanks for your kind comments, John, Mark and Cliff.

I WAS looking forward to 'The Cheshireman', Cliff as I was going to be in Sheffield at the weekend. I wanted to capture it on the climb South out of Sheffield, but the outward route has been changed to go via Huddersfield. Still, I might see it in the Hope Valley or in Sheffield on it's return.
