Belvedere backlit in colour

by GIULIO57

Colour version for Mr. Robert Lavers (RobL). Sorry for white border (and red writing) but I didn't like mainly disturbing elements of left upper corner so I choosed to add this "nasty" frame. Seex EXIF. Same pp in Photomatix and then just a few steps in PS.
Thank You All for comments on previous BW upload that I do far prefer.

I like it...very eyecatching and works well with the wavy border. (Liked)

I agree, it's different but it works. However, I do prefer the B&W version.

I hadn't seen the mono version when I posted on the coloured version. I have to agree Phil...I prefer the mono...truly superb, but the above image is fab too.

The accompanying human interest/historical angle with the mono image adds extra appeal to the image, akin to added 'provenance' as when discussing the value
of something sought after and highly valued.

I actually rather like the over vibrant colour, the image is almost surreal. The border is almost right but not quite done to my liking. A lovely very striking image but I much prefer the mono version.
I hope my comments don't offend you.

Much more mystery about the mono version and thus I prefer that one!

You're right and you're not offending me. I prefer the mono, far the best. Border is useless when picture is right....this is not right so I have used border to hide disturbing elements on upper left right corner (roofs, buildings)..in mono it has been not necessary because I overexposed that upper part. Difficult to get same result in colour (too much depictive anyway: colour of bricks, colour of roofs...overexposing gives different tones back....disturbing).
I tried to clone disturbing elements out but it has been a real mess. Never retouch if difficult: this is my poor opinion.
Tones are surreal, right. I have not been able to get expected result: I was too glad for mono final "success"

Thanks Guilios57, that is much better, beautiful light. Sorry, cannot understand anyone preferring the mono version, life without colour is a dull and dreary place.

Well, I understand your philosophy....and you are right when stating that all around us live in colour. About this picture I must observe that BW well matches to the written History (rich of Bs & Ws). Colours add...but in most cases and in special way her "steal" something. Colour is varnish and BW is the heart of real world, IMHO.
Anyway this colour version is nasty(IMHO)...I have not been able to pp it as it was right to make justice of that moment
Thak for your comment

I like both, but for different reasons. And Giuliano, I think your criticisms of the colour version are a bit harsh. Like a lot.

I've correct two words "her" wrong. Right is "here" and "Thank"

Love the composition and I can see why you have used the border, the lighting in this shot must have been extremely difficult.
