Blakemore Barley

Photo Information
"Over the green squares of the fields and the low curves of a wood there rose in the distance a grey, melancholy hill, with a strange jagged summit, dim and vague in the distance like some fantastic landscape in a dream..."

Arthur Conan Doyle

Transient side-light, under an approaching rain clouds, illuminates a barley field dancing in the summer evening breeze on Blakemore Hill - which lies on the outskirts of Totnes.

The undulating South Hams hills and southern Dartmoor stretch beyond including the twin peaks of Haytor Rocks.

Knew it to be yours from the get-go, Phil. Your style is tell-tale and evocative. The dots of wildflowers are joyful accents to the surreal and dramatic encroaching storm.
As always, lovely literature underscoring it all.
Cheers...Donna 😊

Thanks very much indeed for your generous and considered comments😊 It was wonderful to witness this confluence of light and land, to be immersed in this bucolic idyll gazing into the distant moorland slopes. Current time in the foreground and imagining the deep time, those moors that are remnants of a 350 million years old alpine mountain range. A smile upon my face...

Lovely, it feels like you are in the field and the wind.

This could so easily have been a boring shot, but the extraordinary light, the faint track leading into the middle distance and the way you have captured the movement in the field make it special.

That's really well captured and makes a lovely landscape. As Donna pointed out, the splashes of colour from the wild flowers just add that element of extra foreground interest to add to the whole.

Great!

Many thanks for your kind comments 😊 It was a considered moment, I anticipated the transient light and with hope a breath of the intermittent breeze would coincide.

Thanks very much Paul 😊 I had a hunch that the light might become interesting, but was more delightful than I thought it might be 😊
