Millennium Bridge
The Millennium bridge was completed in November 2000 and links Gateshead and Newcastle.
It was designed to move and allow tall ships to pass underneath. At the time of writing is still unique as the only tilting bridge in the world.
Each tilt takes four minutes. It has been likened to looking like an eye as it moves; in this state it reminds me of the jaws of a Great White shark!
In the background is the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Amongst other world class, contemporary exhibitions it hosted this years Turner Prize.

I'm glad you think my photo has also done it justice, there are so many high quality photo's of this part of Newcastle out there. Thank you too Stuart.
If you're coming over in the summer and are interested, this link is for the Millennium Bridge part of Gateshead councils website. It should tell you when it will be tilting, although the box is blank at the moment so hopefully that's just because there's nothing imminent rather than them stopping informing interested people. If you've not seen it, it is quite something to see! I have to cross it on my journey to and from work so if it's tilting when I'm on my way home I'm more annoyed than fascinated these days!
And of course at night it is lit up in changing colours, which I also think is very pretty. If you get some calm water you could get a lovely shot, although I've noted that the background can appear oddly 'orangey'. I don't know what causes this but I think it might be street lights reflecting off the clouds?
