That one is publishing quality!
(What's a 1A shedplate doing there?)
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Re shed code- 45379 was withdrawn from Willesden shed in 1964.....not a very Southern loco, but maybe on inter-regional freights, footie specials etc?

As a loco, a nice size/power for the Mid-Hants with its steep gradients, and, I think, seen as a replacement for 73096 when we lost the use of her. 76017 will be out and about soon (Std 4 2-6-0) and at some stage 4MT 4-6-0 75079, now that does have a good Southern pedigree.

That's another cracker Stephen.

Hopefully I'll get the chance sometime this year to visit Mid-Hants Railway as my son is moving to Winchester early in the new year.
Cheers
Brian.

I really like this shot Stephen. The bridge arch works like a frame and there is some lovely sidelighting on the loco.

Thanks Nigel, a couple of us have been clearing the bank behind me when I took the shot. Until recently, the siding in the foreground was full of old locos, preventing a clear view of the bridge, and even now there is often a diesel parked in the way. Currently on of the big diesels sits at Alresford all day to assist the Santa's if needed, so this shot is available. The side lighting is nice, isn't it?

Great period piece, especially in mono with a slight sepia tint.. You caught the engine in precisely the right place just as it came under the bridge.
