Bromelia Aechmea can be prickly

My favourite flower, bar none. You can witness its amazing evolution, if you are willing to buy one and watch it for a year or so, as it goes through its many transformations. In the stage pictured here, it "suddenly" sprouted beautiful blue "blossoms" among its thorns.
