The Water Mill

by PeterKR

Mapledurham Mill seen from across the downstream Mill Pond.

This is still a working mill. The original Water Wheel is still there on the other side of the building. The modern mechanism is a screw turbine, located just behind the bridge (centre view) which drives an electricity generator to power the mill.

That's a lovely shot.

So glad to see these wonderful old buildings updated, preserved and working.

Many thanks for all the kind comments.

Although this place is less than a mile, 'as the crow flies' from where we live it is the other side of the river so it's a very long ride to get there. That's why there are lots more shots of it from 'over the water' !

They hold a craft fair there every May Bank Holiday and this year we were lucky with a sunny day.

Thanks again

Lovely photo and from a brief look on the web to find out where Mapledurham Mill is they could use some of your photos on their web site. Yours are far more interesting.
Must visit it soon.
