Early morning at the Boston Lodge engine sheds of the Welsh narrow gauge Ffestiniog railway. The double ended Fairley loco Earl of Merioneth is being prepared for the day's work.

I was told I could go into the engine sheds just by signing a visitors' book and taking basic care, such as the avoidance of falling into an inspection pit or tripping over the sort of stuff you find in engine sheds. The staff/volunteers there were very helpful. This was early in the morning when they were firing up the engines so there wasn't a lot of shunting going on.
