A favourite location

Photo Information
Oxenholme on the outskirts of Kendal in Cumbria is my favourite location for photographing historic steam locomotives working on the mainline network. Northbound trains are climbing the gradient to Gayrigg summit on the way to a higher summit at Shap and are generally working hard at around 50mph. The crucial moment is when they burst from under a road bridge exploding clouds of smoke and steam which ever way the wind is blowing.
This was taken earlier this year when ex-LMS Royal Scot class loco Scots Guardsman was working a heavy charter train to Carlisle.

A magnificent sight, David. Immaculate focus and timing. All that's missing is the smell and sound.
Best wishes,

Andrew

As all said above. Lovely timing and result.
