Compton Bay 2

Photo Information
Taken on the same day as the previous one. This one was edited in PSPX2 to remove some unnecessary and distracting elements. Also I have tried a lower saturation with a higher contrast by sandwiching an 80% opaque black and white layer between two colour layers and using a Soft Light blend mode between the two top layers.

Wow! There is definitely something about the skies down there. Nice colours too!

I saw impressive cloud when taking my 'Wight Walker' pic, but also the same day took similar to this but from a higher viewpoint.

Great image - very dramatic.
May I ask what advantage your light blend layers technique has over a simple curves adjustment in terms of image contrast?

To be honest, I've never tried this using Curves. I'm not sure whether there is any advantage. I just like the resulting effect that this technique gives, although it's not effective with all pictures. I've only used it with plant life and landscapes at the moment.
You've piqued my curiosity to see if it can be created using Curves and HSL adjustments alone.
Curiosity killed the cat....but for a while I was a suspect

Admittedly I'm a bit of a sucker for big skies, but I love this one!
