Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen!!

Photo Information
On this morning's walk, I was more than startled to come across this ancient and mighty maple tree fallen to the ground in Queen's Park, which is adjacent to the Ontario Legislature. Since I cross this park almost daily, right along the pathway you see on the left, I count myself lucky this old lady chose to fall to the south, rather than to the north. She was almost hollow from the ground up to about 12 feet, so her days were numbered. I understand many of the dozens and dozens of trees in Queen's Park are rotten within, so I expect to see many more hit the ground over the next few years. Now if only we could find a way to clear the deadwood out of the Ontario Legislature.

An "update". The fallen tree is actually a red oak, so an expert told me. Its pointy leaves---totally different from the regular oak---threw me off.
