I have tried very hard with this one to give you a sense of the scale of the place I was seeing when this shot was taken. If you've seen a previous upload from yesterday, we got caught in 100mph winds and horizontal hail on the top of the fell. This was just after the high winds, but it was still blowing at about 50mph. To get this shot, I was perched on the edge of a rock with a sheer drop below me which must have been between 300 and 500 feet. The wind was trying to blow me off the rock so I had to sit down and get as low as possible.
The view is from Helm Crag in the opposite direction to Grasmere; I don't know the name of this place but Shaun Wilson may be able to provide the details. Of all the shots I've taken with the K-5 and 16-45 I think this best demonstrates the capability of this equipment.
K-5, DA 16-45, set at 16mm.
