The main area of interest here is the middle-distance hill to the right, with the sunny valley below. I would crop the sky totally, and the left up to the bottom of the aforesaid hill.

It's a bit drastic, but it means you keep the best part of the picture, where the light and colouring are so lovely.

However, that's just my approach. I am sure there are many other possibilities.

Landscape pictures are especially dependent on good light, and you chose a great time to photograph this scene.

My experience in landscape photography is quite limited, Maria, .. , but I globally agree with Lazarette's comment except I wouldn't crop any part of it. I think the pic is well equilibrated as it is. Maybe I'd look after a bit more contrast in sky and enhance the blue (although that could be hard to achieve).
I also totally agree with .. "Landscape pictures are especially dependent on good light"; .. I think this is right whatever the kind of photography

On the other hand, I noticed a very interesting stony wall/fence in the fg; ..; IMHO it'd deserve a bit more emphasis on it

Landscapes, like all other photographs are very subjective and what one person finds attractive, another does not. I find it quite difficult to appraise my own pictures, let alone those by someone else and I am constantly surprised by some pictures attracting a lot of interest / comment whilst others that I thought would, don't! I will have a go at providing some feedback:

I would not crop it as to me this would remove the hill from 'it's place in the landscape', although I can see why George has suggested this. It is a shame there is not more interest / definition in the sky, but this shot was taken in the general direction of the sun and this is probably why the sky is so bright.

You could try to recover more detail in the shadow areas and tweak the curves to add more interest to the areas at the left of the image where the light is 'flatter'. On a similar basis try some subtle highlight recovery to tone down the bright sky as much as you can without making it look artificial.

Maybe also it would have more impact with a little closer foreground detail (e.g. if shot nearer to the wall), but without knowing your location I don't know if this would have been possible and I would not crop it here.

The only other thing that strikes me is that there is no natural 'lead in' for the eye, although there is a line running from bottom right to top left. If the picture had been taken from a different angle (further to the right) this line would have been more prominent and would maybe have helped to increase the perception of depth.

Having said all of the above, I like the image as it is.

Lovely warm light, lots of details and shades of light and colour to enjoy. For me it's a good landscape shot as it is, Maria. It's best viewed large.

Rule of thirds is okSubjects and lights the sameThis is a normal and beautiful and everiday landscape.....that is in front of us at each moment. The important is to give these subjects back as they're...and you did it. By the way: best large.

I think this is a wonderful landscape capture, Maria.Personally i wouldn't crop any of it out,( more definition of the sky may have inhanced the picture more though, and thats my only cc).I do love the glimmers of light cast on the fields, well done you! -mary.

Yes, a very lovely landscape. Well done for spotting the beautiful colours. I agree with a little more definition in the sky, but then, I generally have the same problem. I don't take as many photos as I would like, but did experimented with underexposing a tad and then lghtening the foreground in photoshop and that kinder worked. However, this picture is lovely the way it is.

Yes, there seems to be some detail in the sky now.

I suggested my drastic crop to get rid of the sky, which originally held nothing of interest.

Seeing this Maria I don't think you need much guidance. If you are getting the results that you set out to achieve then it really doesn't matter what we think as all our preferences are personal, and different. I think it's a lovely shot!

The sky hasn't changed - it is the same picture! I think Maria is referring to the fact that she has done some further work to it at home!

The picture is lovely, with the sky just as it is.
