Hi David and Phillip,

Thanks for your kind comments: I was on this bird a couple of days and took numerous photos as it came in and out of view but with the lower light and high contrast difference between the light plumage of the owl and the dark woodland behind it, was quite a challenge to get the owl lit properly and reasonably sharp without increasing the ISO too much: The sun was dropping behind me but it did highlight the owl somewhat;

I had to compensate for the high contrast in pp and in doing so made the dark woodland behind, virtually black, which you can still see if you look carefully around the edges (very dark green).

I made a slight color temperature adjustment and a final small cropping to enlarge the owl which fortunately/unfortunately took out the foliage bordering the frame isolating the subject.

I was happy that it was not too "unsharp" and more importantly the image depicts the owl in it's natural environment "going about it's business".
