Dune Spikes......spiked thinking

by graysummers

I remember looking at Google images and typed in 'Dune Grass'. I always take the whole caboodle of grass and wanted to see what others do. I saw images of simple sparse clumps and thought....'I don't do these.' Got in the van and took a few photies. I'll tell you....I thought...what's the point [excuse the pun]. I should seek other stuff and not copy others. Sometimes a result is like.....Flurb!!! Seeking new horizons and inspirations can be an arduous affair. Getting new ideas can be heartbreaking. Maybe a few Guiness-es and a winding trek to Nirvana photographic subject land may offer up a novel 'in my face' enlightenment.

Then I came down to Earth and thought.....but the Buddhist beliefs in me say.........Dunespikes have meaning, they are treasures, they are simple and they are beautiful. Yes they are. They sit there in the sun all day and are content. So I sit in the sand, look at them, listen to their gentle wind inspired stories and.....Meditate........and I am content too.

I love the simple contrasts here, Gray: white and black, sharp and soft.
Best wishes,

Elegant, deceptively simple image. Great processing too- understated but effective.
