How do you mean - replace the wire rope with more wire rope?

It's a very old wall, years ago my dad decided to tie the pergola up to the wall with wire so now the wall is falling down! The story is not clear here but the whole wall needs rebuilding. The lichen is wonderful so I am not in a hurry!
