Downhill Boulevard

Photo Information
In these last 30 years I took a lot of photos of this boulevard but this is the first time I have been able to take a photo of a bus travelling downhill. I took photos of cars, tractors…but this bus gives back right dimensions of the place, IMHO. Sorry for cropping but a lot of elements disturb this area so I’ve been obliged to “cut” a few parts of the file. These cypresses became well known about two ya when Lancia (an Italian brand of cars)played an advertisement-movie just here. Place: Monticchiello of Pienza-Val d’Orcia-Tuscany-Italy. Camera Pentax k20D on tripod and Pentax Zoom Lens 55-300mm.

Perfect timing Giulio with the bus between the trees! The crop works nicely too.

What a stunning view. Catching the bus as you have gives a better idea of the downhill slope.

I new instantly this was a 'Giulio'! I love it, but i do find the edge of the hill in the foreground a bit of a distraction; however, as it is such an outstanding view,,,,i forgive you...
Best Regards, Larry.

All the gear & no idea.

Always how I think of the Tuscany countryside. You should post more to cheer us up in the damp UK!
With regards to the picture. I do not know what it was like before the crop so cannot really comment but if it were possible to make the road exit the picture bottom right and remove the land at the bottom of the picture which contributes nothing I feel it would look the better for it. It has many subtle colours in it which if brought out gives the picture more depth
and looks less flat.

I knew from the thumbnail this was one of yours Giulio, the colours are beautiful and as always the composition is lovely, i like the snake like road and the bus that is the icing on the cake!
Kind regards Maria

This could not belong to anyone other than you. It instantly jumps out on the thumbnail view and of course it does not disappoint when viewed in full. Superb.

I too knew at firs sight it was yours. Excellent composition and details. I like it a lot.
You can use this shot as a Christmas postcard by mirroring the picture. The road looks like a half of a schematic Christmas Tree. :

Thank YOU Larry and Bob for sharp comments. You’re both right about foreground. I’ve used it to “cover” part of country-road in foreground that comes in front of me, right in the center. I wanted to give the impression of looking at this “snake” with “my arms resting on the bottom of a window…like for a previous capture in PUG named La Cascata”. I’ll try to take this photo again following YOUR instructions. “Image is flat and colours could help to”…..and so on. Right! It was cloudy that day so I’ve been obliged to shoot using what I had on my hands at that moment. However I would like to underline that I prefer this “soft box weather without shadows”. It helps not to haveblack-dark shadows of trees on the road(sunrise on the left-sunset on the right). Road should appear like a ladder. I do have several Sunny captures (morning and late afternoon) but problem above is a real “needle”for my eyes. I must say I was lucky that day to test a different quality of light….but Bob is right. Image is flat!

Must say a great view indeed. However I must agree with the comments about the foreground. BTW I love Toscany as well! I have been there once and had a lovely time.
