Ball Point

by GlynM

I recently succumbed to purchasing a 2nd-hand 2x teleconverter. So when it arrived I wanted to try it so put it behind my DFA100 macro and hunted around for small things to shoot.

This image is the delivery end of a ball-point pen.

It is actually a focus stack of 9 shots to obtain a good depth of field.

Pentax K-5 with the Samsung equivalent of the DFA 100 Macro and a Teleplus MC4 2x, non-AF, teleconverter.

1.6 sec, F16, ISO200 & -0.7ev compensation.

The focus stack was processed using combineZP with a little bit of tinkering in PSE10.

You may not believe me, but I was having fun with my Tamron 90mm macro, 1.7x Soligor teleconvertor and some focus stacking just last week, and one of my ideas was to shoot exactly this thing! Only my pen is blue But I never got to actually shooting it. Great job, and what a coincidence, for me at least!

Thanks guys for your comments.

I did shot a few other things as well but thought that the pen came out the best.

It was a struggle to find things to shoot so not surprised that Slovak and I came up with similar ideas .
