Thanks for the comments, first photo I've posted on here and am pleased that people like it.
The lens used was the 18-55WR kit lens on my K7. It's a stitch (using Hugin) of the explosions (1.6s f6.3 ISO 800) and the foreground (240s f6.3 ISO 200).
I took a series of photos throughout the display, trying many different exposure times, then picked the one that had the best combination of firework and lighting of the castle.

Excellent composition and exposure. These shots are never easy, but this one is superb - well taken.
Not everything in life is Black & White, If only it were!
